Motorama '09 RESULTS
We are back from another great tournament held by the NorthEast Robotics Club at the Motorama show in Harrisburg. None of our robots placed, but the competition this year was the BEST it's been in a long time! Robots in all weight classes were coming out of the box in pieces.

Upchuck went a respectable 2 wins - 2 losses. Its 2 losses were to #1 ranked and two time Motorama winner Surgical Strike and vertical spinner Deranged. Upchuck defeated drumbot SPUN and 2nd place finisher Foobar.

Traumatizer and Aggravator got VERY tough draws, perhaps the worst possible! Traumatizer had to face Yeti in it's very first match and Aggravator had to face the nasty horizontal spinner Misdirected Aggression. Both matches sent both of my beetles into the loser bracket. Traumatizer took a win over SuperPointer, but Aggravator was eliminated (0-2!) by Gene's One Fierce Lawn Boy. Traumatizer was then eliminated by another Smith bot, Pure Dead Brilliant, in a match Traumatizer was winning until a drive wheel broke.

Rebound did not compete on Friday. I was still getting over being sick and did not want to come and get everyone sick, though I still think everyone else got sick anyway!

Unfortunately we do not have any photos or videos from Motorama 2009. We took lots of photos and video, but someone stole our camera bag on Sunday. It was left on our pit table along with other items, but apparently someone felt the desire to take things that they didn't earn. It's ok... the miniDV camcorder is old and doesn't have a charger, so good luck charging it. The Fujifilm digital camera is quite old as well, I think its only 4 megapixels.

To whomever stole it: I hope it blows up in your face to teach you a lesson, though you will probably never learn. What goes around comes around. You are a loser and will never amount to anything. Good luck getting through life by pirating things that do not belong to you. You are a disgrace to society and deserve absolutely no respect. Go look in the mirror and you will see the epitome of disgust. The thought that there are people out there like you makes me sick. I hope everytime you use MY cameras it reminds you of how useless you are and what a waste of oxygen your careless body really is.

OK... I'm done venting. But if you feel any desire to undo what you've done wrong, feel free to ship the camcorder and camera back to us a DWRobots, 779 Mainville Drive, Bloomsburg PA 17815.

Other than having my camera stolen it was a great weekend. We got to hang out with a lot of our friends we don't see too often and meet some cool new people. Congrats to everyone for making the tournament fun and VERY destructive. Upchuck has been retired as the frame is no longer usable. Aggravator is also retired as well. Traumatizer has a lot of potential and will be back!

Plans are in the works for a new hobbyweight and the complete rebuild of Upchuck is on the backburner as well. As long as Franklin Institute doesn't land on a weekend of one of my band's shows, we should be there. As it looks, our next tournament will be the Bot Blast in July. Hope to see you all there!

Bot Blast 2009 Announcement
We are officially announcing the 2nd annual Pennsylvania Bot Blast. It will take place Saturday July 18th 2009 once again at the Columbia Mall in Bloomsburg, PA. It will consist of fairys, antweights, beetles, and hobbyweights battling to see who is the best. We will again have fantastic prizes, awesome trophies, and be giving away the very cool "bot blast chips" to the match winners! We would love to have everyone back from last year and hopefully some new faces. Mark July 18, 2009 on your calendars now... it will be a BLAST!

The materials for Upchuck's rebuild have been ordered. Hopefully sometime over the next couple weeks I can find some time to mill out the new frame. I'm still not quite sure if we are going to build a new drum or just use the same 9" drum from last year. Its still somewhat in working condition, but very dented and unbalanced thanks to some great fights against some great bots (Solaris, Igoo, Smith's clones, Ingor Eater of Souls, Torrent, and others!). I started a Build Report for Traumatizer that you can find on the Traumatizer Page. More updates will be posted here and there as contruction continues!

New Website
DWRobots.com has taken on a new look! I recently spent some time reworking the layout and format of our site, with great results. Not all of the pages have been reformatted yet, but I'll be working on them this week.

I've also been spending a lot of time preparing for the Bot Blast in July. We have many sponsors already who have already contributed GREAT PRIZES for the top 3 in each class. If you haven't registered yet, please do at The Builders Database! See you in July.

Motorama 2008 RESULTS
Wow, what an amazing weekend in Harrisburg! Motorama 2008 provided some of the best matches (in all weight classes) and the most friendly group of builders ever assembled. Even though we didn't win first place, we had a super time.

We took two 2nd place finishes - Aggravator took 2nd in the Beetles and Rebound tied for 2nd in the Fairies. Upchuck had some tough draws in the Hobby bracket (3 undercutters!) but still ended up going 3-2 with its only two losses coming to each of the Smith's Scot bots. Concussion went 2-2 in the Ants but had wins over Team Slacker's Always and Sweet Revenge.

Everyone put on a real great show for the fans, and the spectator stands were pretty full for all of Saturday and most of Sunday. Congrats to the winners this weekend, as NOTHING came easy! A full event report can be found on our Event Page and some of our match videos are up on the Videos Page.

PennBots Fall 2007 RESULTS
We're back from PennBots Fall 2007 event held Saturday at Yellow Breeches Middle School. Aggravator now has earned it's SECOND event win. Aggravator went undefeated winning 3 straight matches. Then Aggravator convincingly won the beetleweight rumble in less than 30 seconds... See the video! Rebound also made it's debut, and did well but not as well as I had hoped. Rebound did pick up one round win and placed 4th.

Receiving Aggravator's 1st Place award from Mr. Bechtel

We had a great time. Mr. Kelley, Mr. Bechtel, and all the other people helping out made this event a fun one. We will definitely be back. Also thanks to Mrs. Kelley for making sure we all had great food to eat! It was fun, competitive, and relaxing at the same time. Congrats to all the other winners from PennBots, and to everyone for making it a sucessful event.

Robots and Event pages have been updated! Thanks to everyone who came to HOS2 and had a great time hanging out, eating pizza, and (occasionally) fighting some robots!

H.O.R.D. RESULTS
We are back from the 2007 HORD event, and Aggravator once again did great. We did not win, but Aggravator still did a great job slamming other bots around and pushing them into the pit! Aggravator made it to the loser bracket semi-finals before being eliminated.

Updates to the robots and events pages are posted. An event report link can be found on the Events page. I also changed the format of the robot's page to give each bot it's own page. Videos will be posted later in the week when I have time to edit them. Also, check out the new robot logos.

UNYRB-5 RESULTS
We are back from the Upstate NY Robot Battle and I am proud to say the Aggravator WON the beetleweight class! I went undefeated and had 4 wins, over some good ranked robots. Event report is posted and videos are up on their respective pages. The Robots page has also been updated to include Aggravator's statistics and a build report.

Receiving Aggravator's 1st Place award from John the event organizer

I received many compliments about how strong, fast, and solid Aggravator is, and how aggressive my driving was. I credit all of Aggravator's power to BaneBots with their incredible gearmotors and speed controls! Aggravator was truly a fan-favorite, nicknamed "Speedy" by all the kids in the audience. I had an awesome time at the event and got to meet a bunch of great new people. Our next event may be the H.O.R.D. event next month in Ohio. I'll keep you all updated!

I also received news today that BotsIQ team Malicious Intent once again won the BotsIQ Nationals in Miami,FL with MaXimum Impact. VerteX came in 4th place. Great job team MI! I'm proud to say that I got my start in combat robots by being a member of your team. Keep up the great work!

Motorama ended today and even though Upchuck didn't win the tournament, we still unleashed alot of destruction, had some great matches, and made many friends. Upchuck finished the tournament 3-2 in 5th place and made it to the semi-finals of the winners bracket before its first loss.
